Family

How does Family work?

Add the people you pray with in Settings → Family, each with a buddy and a focus prayer to start with. After you confirm a prayer, Raka asks who joined you. Tap them, and Today and Progress show who prayed with you. In Progress, each person has their own view, and with two or more, Family shows everyone together.

A prayer someone prayed without you can be marked too: in Progress, tap their name, then the day, and switch it on. Only prayers that were prayed are ever marked, so nobody is shown as missing one. Family with one person is free; Raka Pro adds up to four more.

What’s the family’s weekly goal?

In Settings → Family, choose how many days a week you’d like to pray together, from 1 to 7. A day counts when anyone joins you for any prayer; one prayed without you doesn’t.

Reach it and the week counts towards your weeks in a row; a week that falls short starts a new run. Weeks start on the day your region starts them, shown in Settings → Family. It’s one goal for the whole family, so no child is ever compared or marked as missing.

I picked the wrong person. How do I fix it?

In Progress, tap that person’s name, tap the day, and switch the prayer on or off. Their calendar starts the day you added them. To change your own prayer, or everyone who joined you at once, tap the day under Me and then the prayer.

Where are my family’s names kept?

On your iPhone, and in your own iCloud so they come back on a new phone. Raka never receives them, and they’re never part of analytics.

Blocking

Why didn’t my apps block at prayer time?

Raka can only block when all of these are on: Screen Time access (Settings → Screen Time), at least one app chosen (Settings → Distracting apps), and Location, which is how Raka knows your prayer times. Blocking also stops while tracking is paused.

Blocking is part of Raka Pro, so on the free plan apps aren’t blocked.

If all of that is set and a prayer still didn’t block, tap Settings → Re-sync prayer schedule, and email us if it happens again.

How do I get my apps back after praying?

Open Raka and tap Pray now, then Start Salah. When you’re done, tap “I’ve prayed” and your apps unlock right away. They also unlock on their own when the prayer’s time ends.

I need my phone right now. How do I unlock?

In Salah Mode, tap “I can’t pray right now” → Emergency unlock, or use Settings → Emergency unlock. Hold the button for 12 seconds. This unlocks your apps without marking the prayer as prayed, so you can still pray it later. If you won’t be praying it, “I missed this prayer” unlocks them too, and records it as not prayed.

Can I keep some apps usable during prayer?

Yes. Settings → Distracting apps → Always allowed. Choose any app, like your Quran app, Maps or WhatsApp, and it stays usable even when its category is blocked.

Does Raka block websites too?

Yes. Blocking a category also blocks matching websites in Safari, and you can pick individual websites in the same list as apps.

I pray Isha late. What happens after midnight?

Isha’s time runs until Fajr. After midnight, last night’s Isha shows at the top of Today so you can still confirm it, and tapping the Live Activity opens it.

Prayer times and alerts

My prayer times are a few minutes off from my mosque’s.

Go to Settings → Prayer Calculation and choose the method and Asr timing your mosque uses. Asr timing alone can move Asr by close to an hour.

Still a few minutes off? Adjust times lets you move each prayer earlier or later by up to 30 minutes.

Can I get a reminder before each prayer?

Yes. Settings → Prayer alerts → Reminder before prayer: 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes before. You still get a notification when the prayer begins (and with Raka Pro, that’s when apps block).

I’m not getting prayer notifications.

Check that notifications are allowed for Raka (iOS Settings → Notifications → Raka), and that any Focus you use, like Sleep or Do Not Disturb, lets Raka through.

How does Jummah work?

Turn on Settings → Jummah and set your mosque’s time. On Fridays, Dhuhr becomes Jummah at that time, and apps stay blocked for at least 30 minutes, long enough for the khutbah and prayer.

I prayed on time but forgot to mark it. Will it say late?

Only if you say so. Tap the prayer on Today and choose “Yes, on time”. For an earlier day, tap the day in Progress, then the prayer. A prayer marked late by mistake can be changed the same way.

If you’ve already prayed when you open Salah Mode, tap “I already prayed” rather than Start Salah.

How do streaks work?

Each prayer has its own streak: the days in a row you’ve prayed it, on time or later. Missing Fajr only ends Fajr’s. Today shows the streak for the prayer whose time it is, and Progress shows all five with your best.

Missed one? Make it up and its streak carries on. Paused days don’t count either way, and a day Raka wasn’t opened counts as not prayed until you log it in Progress.

What does pausing do?

Settings → Pause tracking stops tracking and blocking until you turn it off, for travel, illness or any time tracking doesn’t fit. Paused days don’t count against your stats.

Plans

What’s the difference between Free and Pro?

Free has prayer times and alerts, the prayer log, streaks, Progress, iCloud backup, and Family with one person. Pro adds up to four more family members, Home and Lock Screen widgets, app blocking at all five prayers and Jummah, website blocking, and Always allowed apps.

How do I cancel my trial or subscription?

Settings → Your plan → Manage subscription, or iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancel at least a day before it renews.

If you cancel during the free trial, you won’t be charged. Raka moves to the free plan: prayer times, alerts and tracking keep working, but apps aren’t blocked.

Can I switch to Lifetime?

Yes: Settings → Your plan → Switch to Lifetime. It’s one payment, and Raka Pro is yours for good.

Apple doesn’t cancel your trial or subscription when you buy Lifetime, so Raka takes you straight to cancelling it afterwards. Otherwise it renews and you’re charged again.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles all payments, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your data

Will I lose my history if I delete the app?

Not if Settings → iCloud Backup says “Backed up”. Your history is saved to your own iCloud and comes back when you reinstall Raka on any iPhone signed into the same Apple Account.

Can Raka see my location or which apps I use?

Your location is used on your iPhone only, to work out prayer times, and never leaves it. Raka can’t see which apps you have or use: iOS only lets it block the ones you pick, without telling Raka what they are. More in our Privacy Policy.
